What are EHBs?
- Electronic Handbooks (EHBs) are Internet-based tools that support
the paperless documentation and management of complex distributed processes
(e.g., Research Contracts Management
). Subprocesses include those for product realization, support, and
improvement.
- Subprocesses are represented as "plays" where "actors" communicate thru
the Internet. For each role, EHBs guide actors thru their parts. [Shakespearean]
Subprocesses with multiple roles are also represented as "teams"
having "multiple personalities". [Freudian]
- Two applications of EHBs are:
- Subprocesses and their EHBs are:
using the "Play and Team Development" paradigms. [Shakespearean, Freudian]
- Subprocesses and their EHBs are developed using Tasks which also facilitiates team development.
- Subprocesses and their EHBs are developed using View Integration with:
- a sequence of user groups (i.e., roles) improving on the subprocesses content,
- user groups whose sizes may range from one to ten, and
- immediate integration of suggestions into the web-based (HTML) tool.
- Subprocesses and their EHBs are evolved over Five Stages:
- Subprocess Online and Data Offline,
- Online Subprocess and Data,
- Integrated Online Subprocess and Data,
- Reusable Integrated Online Subprocess and Data, and
- Cross-Organization Reusable Integrated Online Subprocess and Data
each stage using the above tools.
